Day 15 Build updates

The next build of Legacy will add five more days to the main story, up to Day 15. As far as that goes, I'm nearly done, but if you know what this game is like, that's only about half of the work. Before I get into that, here's a quick rundown of some interesting aspects of the additions to the main plot.

Alice becomes a playable character! After a certain incident, the Midnight Guild leaders decide Peri needs a more experienced member with her as she wanders around the city. It's a nice balance because Peri is underleveled compared to Bradley and his classmates, but Alice starts at a higher level than any of them and offers a preview of the Dark Cleric specialization, one of three paths Peri will eventually choose from (along with Shadow Magic and Necromancy) as she continues her education. Speaking of that, let's look at how it relates to Bradley.

I can't help but feel redundant going into this again because I talked about it numerous times on RMN, but all those blog posts are gone so I should give a recap. Each of the six schools of magic Bradley can choose from has two paths to go down as he and the others advance. In the screenshot below, you can see a little bit of how that works. In general, each element has one path that focuses on high damage and another that is more strategic (i.e. buffs, debuffs, healing). In addition to choosing one for Bradley, you can influence what your classmates choose if you have a high enough friendship with them. Otherwise, they have their own picks that they will stick with.

This happens on Day 14, and that, combined with what happens in the story, means that you won't have all that much time to play around with your new spells. That's definitely disappointing, so I came up with a little extra that you'll come across after finishing this build. I think you will enjoy it (just don't save over your main slot because this little bonus will be gone next time!) You'll also have your first experience with a triple combo, although it may not be the combination of people you expect!

So that's the main story, but then there's question of how much exploration stuff to include this time. We have two new outdoor areas, the Great Swamp and the Highlands, and so far I've completed very few side quests that take place there. So we need more of those and perhaps some new content for the older maps (there is a pretty involved new one for Azure Bay I completed a while back). It's hard to say how much more I need to add before I feel like it's substantial enough, but we're definitely still months away from the build being ready. I hope I can keep my target release window of somewhere in the second half of 2025, probably Fall?

After that, I am really excited to see what people think....and I think I'll start using the antagonist's name more since it shouldn't be considered as much of a spoiler, but we'll see. Peace bros!
